A Note From Seren Blake
I didn’t grow up dreaming of writing about women’s health. In fact, my journey started with something very simple — noticing how small lifestyle changes made a huge difference in how I felt. A better breakfast, a short walk, an extra hour of sleep… these little shifts sparked a big curiosity in me: what else could women do, simply and realistically, to feel their best?
Education
That curiosity became a career path. I earned a B.Sc. in Nutrition and Dietetics from King’s College London, followed by a Postgraduate Certificate in Women’s Health & Wellness from Columbia University, and later, a Master of Public Health from Harvard University. These experiences gave me a strong foundation in both nutrition science and the bigger picture of women’s health — from diet and fitness to mental well-being and preventive care.

But here’s the truth I discovered: while research holds the answers, most women don’t need medical journals or long lectures. They need advice that’s clear, practical, and realistic. Recipes that taste good and work in busy lives. Health tips that are doable without guilt. And lifestyle habits that make women feel strong, not pressured.

The Mission
That’s why I created HighDowns — to make women’s health approachable, empowering, and relatable. This isn’t about chasing unrealistic ideals. It’s about learning how food, movement, rest, and self-care can fit naturally into your life. Here, I translate research into everyday steps, test wellness trends, and share ideas that actually work in the real world.
At the heart of it, I’m not just a health writer — I’m someone who’s navigating the same questions and challenges you are. Think of me as a friend who happens to have studied the science. So whether you’re here to discover a new recipe, pick up a fitness routine, or simply feel inspired, welcome. This journey is ours to share, and I’m so glad you’re here.
